Some of my work was recently published in Vocess Magazine's Spring issue.
The funny thing about shooting work for a Spring issue, which features Spring clothing specifically designed for warmer weather, is that you have to shoot them before Spring. All of these images were shot on a very chilly Winter's day, when the snow was still attached firmly to the ground. Our location was an old, dilapidated building, with missing walls and windows, and was therefore as brutally cold inside, as it was outside. The building is nestled amongst an abandoned shipping yard right along the Delaware River's edge, and was as beautiful and interesting as it was c-c-c-cold.
The lovely, patient and now slightly frost bitten models were Jordana Jagdeo, Gerube Valdez, Whitney Star, Myke Robb and Vanessa Banks. Hair and makeup was done by Bethany Bell, Candace Whaley of Authentic8ke Style did the styling, and all dresses were supplied by Shay of Scripted Designs who is the featured designer in the issue.
Thank you to everyone that was a part of this day! I know it was cold. Brutally cold. Teeth chattering, goosebump worthy cold. Did I mention how cold it was!? but I think we worked together as a team exceptionally well, and all the models did a great job of hiding their torment in the bitter, Winter weather.
Check out vocessmag.com to get a better look of the images (pages 24-26).
FDR Park played the backdrop for Kristen & Randy's engagement shoot last Sunday.
Randy is an avid skater, so he was right at home amongst the intricate concrete architecture that makes up FDR skate park (myself and my not very 'skaterly' shoes, we're not so much!). We maneuvered through skaters, over concrete hills, and climbed half pipes to get a few shots with the vivid graffiti, and then headed to the more grassy and natural area of the park, for some photos as the sun set over the lake.
Can't wait to shoot their wedding in May!
Model Eliza Maria, wardrobe stylist Candace of Authentic8ke Style, mua/hairstylist Bethany Bell and myself (Simmone von Sydney) collaborated for this spring fashion shoot.
Can you tell we had a lot of fun?

Spring creeps in and then runs back out again as Winter throws it's last few gusts of wind at us. The battle between the two seasons is tedious, and I find myself counting the days until I can officially retire my heavy coats for the year and just enjoy the sun.
I've made a point to embrace the warmth when we get it here. I didn't realize how much I missed being outside until I hopped back on my bicycle and rode around the city in a light cardigan, but then the chill came back and I was forced to realize that Winter is not quite over.
Winter is beautiful in it's white, cold simplicity, but it changes the pace of everything. I can't wait for the color and vitality that comes with Spring. I was spoilt spending three weeks in Australia during Summer this year. It's made me impatient for nice weather!
I worked with the beautiful 14 year old Sarah Hill on Sunday who recently signed to Bell Management which is operated by the exceptionally talented hairstylist Bethany Bell.
It was Sarah's first photoshoot EVER so Michael and I worked closely with her to help with her posing and to try and make her feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
It's been almost a month since Craig and Brita said 'I Do' on a cold, yet sunny day at the seriously beautiful, Glen Foerd Mansion. I've been slack when it comes to posting some pictures from their beautiful winter wedding, but finally, here it is!
The holidays sort of swooped in and took a hold of me, and as a result, I've been pretty slack with the blog.
I wanted to do a quick update to let you all know of the things that I've been up to, and what I have planned.
Last Sunday, I was fortunate enough to do a whole day shoot with the incredibly talented hairstylist Bethany Bell. Bethany worked hard on some amazing avant garde hair pieces, and she will be entering the photographs into the NAHA competition. We worked for almost 12 hours on the shoot, but the photos turned out really cool so even though we were aching by the end of it, it was worth it.
I've been hard at work editing those images this week, and look forward to hearing about the results of the competition so I can post all the images. Big thank you to all the models involved - Rachael Platt, Erin Bakes, Vanessa Banks, Gerube Valdez and Whitney Star.
As for what's ahead - this Sunday I will be shooting a wedding at Glen Foerd Mansion with my amazing assistant Michael, and then on Monday will be a magazine shoot styled by Scripted Designs with 6 models in an abandoned building.
Finally, on Tuesday I will be leaving for Australia until early February. I can't wait to spend some time with my family, even if it means I'll be ditching snow (which I love!) for heat (grumble, grumble). Aside from spending some much needed time with my family, and editing all the photographs I will be shooting over the next few days, hopefully I will be able to get some shooting in while I am there too!
